No — PTE Academic is not accepted for Canada Express Entry. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) accepts PTE Core for the federal Express Entry programs, Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) and other economic PR streams. PTE Academic is the version used for university study and for Australia, New Zealand and UK visa purposes — not Canadian PR.
They sound almost identical, and that's exactly why people book the wrong one. If you sit PTE Academic hoping to use it for a Canadian PR application, the result cannot be sent to IRCC and cannot be entered into an Express Entry profile. You would have to book and pay for PTE Core and take it again.

Why booking the wrong test costs you
The test fee is not trivial, and neither is the wait for a slot and results. If you book PTE Academic for a Canada PR application, three things happen:
The score report is issued against the Global Scale of English, not the CLB that IRCC uses.
You can't nominate IRCC / an Express Entry profile as a recipient the way you can with PTE Core.
You lose the fee and have to re-sit PTE Core — losing weeks of turnaround as well.

How PTE Core scores work for Canada
Scores convert to CLB levels — and your lowest skill governs.
Express Entry doesn't read your raw PTE number directly. Each of your four skill scores converts to a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level, and IRCC uses those CLB levels in its points system. The catch that surprises many candidates:
Your lowest skill sets your CLB level. Three strong skills and one weak one means your overall benchmark is dragged down to the weak one. There's no averaging — every skill has to clear the level you need.
That makes your weakest section the thing worth practising most. General four-skill practice still helps: the exam mechanics overlap with PTE Academic, so drills for Write from Dictation, Read Aloud and the other core tasks build the same underlying skills. Just remember the accepted test for Canada is PTE Core.
