Cheap, free and expensive PTE mocks compared honestly — what each pricing model really charges for, what's worth paying for, and the parts you should never pay for at all.
The short answer
You can practise PTE free here, without limits. All 22 task types, full-length timed mock tests and instant estimated scores cost nothing — forever, not as a trial. When you want real AI scoring of your speaking and writing, one-time credit packs start at A$20 for 3 AI-scored mocks and top out at A$39 for 15 — about A$2.60 per AI mock. In India that's ₹999, ₹1,599 and ₹1,999. No subscription, no auto-renewal, credits don't expire on a billing cycle.
"Cheap PTE mock test" is one of the most sensible things you can search for, because mock tests are the one part of PTE preparation where paying more genuinely does not buy a better product. A mock is questions + timing + scoring. Once those match the real exam, extra cost is usually just a coaching centre's rent. This page breaks down what PTE practice actually costs across the market, what you should pay for, and what you never need to pay for.
What PTE preparation usually costs
Exact prices change constantly, so instead of printing numbers that go stale, here are the four pricing models you'll meet — and what to watch for in each.
Option
How you pay
Watch out for
Coaching centres
Weekly classes, usually the biggest spend by far
You mostly pay for a room and a schedule. Useful if you need external discipline; the mock tests themselves are rarely better than online ones.
Subscription platforms
A monthly fee that runs while you study
The longer you take, the more you pay — the incentive is backwards. A 3-month prep can quietly cost more than any one-time pack.
Credit / per-mock platforms
Free practice plus paid credits for scored mocks
Check what the free tier really includes. On many sites "free" means one mock, then a paywall on basic practice.
Official scored practice tests
Paid per test, direct from Pearson
The scoring is the real algorithm, which is genuinely valuable close to test day — but per-test cost is high for regular practice. Check the current price on pearsonpte.com.
The uncomfortable truth about the whole category: the marginal cost of marking a Reading or Listening mock is close to zero, because the answers are objectively right or wrong. Any price attached to unlimited objective practice is margin, not cost. The only part of PTE practice that genuinely costs the provider money per attempt is AI analysis of your speaking and writing.
Our pricing, in full
Built around that cost logic: everything that's cheap to mark is free and unlimited. You pay only for the part that costs real compute — AI scoring.

One-time packs, not subscriptions. There is no monthly fee, no auto-renewal and no clock running while you prepare slowly.
Free practice stays unlimited either way. Credits are only spent when you ask for real AI scoring of a mock. Drilling tasks, sitting timed mocks with instant estimates, and reviewing answers never costs a credit.
What a credit buys: a full mock scored by AI — speaking analysed from your actual recording, writing marked on content, form, grammar and vocabulary — with feedback in English or eight other languages including Hindi, Punjabi and Nepali.
Honesty note: on the free tier, Speaking and Writing get a deliberately rough on-device estimate. It tracks your trend, but it is not your real PTE score — we never dress it up as AI scoring, because it isn't.
Does a cheap PTE mock test mean lower quality?
No — but only if three things are true. Check any provider, including us, against this list.
The task list is current. The exam changed in August 2025: new tasks (Summarize Group Discussion, Respond to a Situation), retired ones gone, and a new task-to-skill scoring map. A mock still selling the old format is worthless at any price — here's what changed.
Timings match the real exam. Per-task preparation and answer clocks, section order, and full-length duration. Untimed "mocks" are just question lists.
Scoring is honest about what it is. Objective tasks should be marked exactly. Speaking and writing should either be AI-scored from your real response — or clearly labelled as an estimate.
Why can we price Pro at A$2.60 a mock when coaching charges many times that per class? Because our costs are software costs. No rooms, no franchises, no agents on commission. The AI compute for scoring a mock costs us real money, which is exactly why that part — and only that part — is paid.
The budget PTE plan (spend almost nothing until the end)
The cheapest preparation that still works, in order:
Drill daily, free and unlimited — start with the two-skill tasks (Repeat Sentence, Write From Dictation, Summarize Written Text) that feed two section scores at once. The free WFD tool auto-scores every attempt.
Sit free timed mocks on the free mock test to build stamina and find your weak section — the estimate is enough to steer practice.
Spend once, near the end. Two to three weeks before test day, use an AI-scored pack to find out precisely where your speaking and writing stand while there's still time to fix them.
Book only when the numbers say so. The real exam fee is the biggest cost in this whole journey (check the current fee on Pearson's site) — and every retake repeats it. A$20–39 of honest scoring that prevents one failed attempt is the best value in the entire category.
Common questions
How much does a PTE mock test cost?
Anywhere from free to a significant per-test fee, depending on the model: coaching centres bundle mocks into course fees, subscription apps charge monthly, credit platforms charge per scored mock, and Pearson sells official scored practice tests individually. Here, unlimited mocks with instant estimates are free; real AI-scored mocks are A$20 for 3, A$30 for 7 or A$39 for 15 (India: ₹999 / ₹1,599 / ₹1,999) as one-time packs.
Is there a completely free PTE mock test with scores?
Yes — the free PTE mock test here is full-length, timed and repeatable without limits. Reading and Listening are marked exactly; Speaking and Writing get an honest on-device estimate. What free mocks anywhere cannot give you is real AI analysis of your spoken and written answers — that computation costs money everywhere, which is what paid credits cover.
Are cheap PTE mock tests accurate?
Price and accuracy are unrelated in this category. What matters: the August 2025 task list and scoring map, real per-task timings, exact marking on objective tasks, and honesty about how speaking and writing are judged. A cheap mock that matches those is better preparation than an expensive one that doesn't.
Why is this so much cheaper than PTE coaching?
Different cost bases. Coaching pays for rooms, schedules and staff; that can be worth it if you need external discipline. Our costs are software and AI compute, so free practice costs us almost nothing to serve — and stays free — while AI scoring is priced near its cost. We'd rather you spend the savings on the real exam fee.
Do the mock credits expire?
Credits don't run on a billing cycle — there's no subscription and no auto-renewal, so you can prepare at your own pace without a monthly meter running. Buy a pack once, use the credits as you need them.
Start free. Pay only for depth.
Unlimited practice and timed mock tests are free forever. Add AI scoring from A$20 — one-time, no subscription.
